NAYAGARH: (Report- Ramakrushna Rath): Odisha Adarsha Vidyalaya (OAV) in Notar, Nayagarh, recently celebrated its Annual Sports Meet for the academic year 2025-26. The two-day event filled the school campus with energy, excitement, and a spirit of healthy competition. Students, teachers, and guests gathered to witness a grand display of athletic talent.
Mr. Pabitra Mohan Rai, a Havildar from the Indo-Tibetan Border Police (ITBP), joined as the Guest of Honor. He shared stories of discipline and bravery from his career to inspire the young participants. The Principal of the school, Mr. Trilochan Sarangi, welcomed the guests and spoke about the vital role of sports in building character and leadership skills.
Mrs. Bhuyan handed out trophies and certificates to the winners of the various competitions. She praised the school for providing such a platform for rural talent.
The success of the festival was the result of hard work by the Physical Education Teacher, Mrs. Indumati Seth, and the entire teaching staff. Their coordination ensured that the event remained disciplined and joyful. The program ended with a formal vote of thanks, leaving the students with fond memories of sportsmanship and friendship.
A Grand Opening
The festival began with a traditional lamp-lighting ceremony and the lighting of the sports torch. Mr. Chinmaya Patra, the Branch Manager of Indian Overseas Bank, Nayagarh, attended the event as the Chief Guest. He hoisted the sports flag and officially declared the meet open. The two-day schedule featured a wide variety of track and field events. Students from different houses competed fiercely but fairly. The main attractions included:- Track Events: 100m and 200m sprints, Relay races, and the popular Slow Cycling race.
- Field Events: Long jump and High jump competitions.
- Fun Games: The Marble-and-Spoon race brought smiles and laughter to the crowd.
- Team Sports: Exciting matches of Cricket, Football, and Kabaddi showcased excellent teamwork.
Closing Ceremony and Awards
The event concluded with a formal closing ceremony. Mrs. Aishwarya Bhuyan, the Block Development Officer (BDO) of Nayagarh, attended as the Chief Guest for the final session.
