NAYAGARH: (Report- Ramakrushna Rath): The district-level Fishery and Livestock Fair concluded successfully at the local stadium ground today. The event highlighted the importance of rural entrepreneurship and the government’s vision for a self-reliant India.
The event was also attended by Nayagarh Municipality Chairperson Smt. Nirupama Khatoi and Additional District Magistrate Smt. Rozina Das. The District Chief Veterinary Officer, Dr. Basanta Kumar Behera, welcomed the guests, while District Fisheries Officer Mr. Prakash Kumar Tripathi delivered the vote of thanks. The Speaker of the Odisha Legislative Assembly, Smt. Surama Padhy, attended the closing ceremony as the chief guest. In her address, she emphasized that fish farming and animal husbandry are the strongest pillars of rural prosperity. She noted that these sectors play a vital role in multiplying farmers' income.Smt. Padhy remarked "A prosperous India depends on the independence of its citizens." She noted "When rural households embrace modern farming to support themselves, they help turn the vision of a developed country into a reality."She praised Nayagarh for being a leading district in livestock and fishery development. She encouraged local farmers to utilize government schemes effectively to make Nayagarh the top district in the entire state. Furthermore, she suggested that adding value to fish and milk products would significantly boost profits for the farming community.
Knowledge Exchange and Modern Farming
The two-day event saw a massive turnout, with over 1,500 farmers participating from various blocks across the district. The fair served as a platform for technical knowledge exchange between scientists and practitioners.- Expert Sessions: Scientists like Dr. Soumendra Nanda and veterinary specialist Dr. Madhusudan Sahoo interacted with the farmers.
