NAYAGARH: (Report- Ramakrushna Rath): The Biju Janata Dal (BJD) celebrated its 29th Foundation Day with great enthusiasm today. The event took place at the party’s district headquarters in Nayagarh. Party members and leaders gathered to honor the legacy of the legendary leader, Biju Patnaik, and to strengthen their commitment to public service.

Tributes to Biju Patnaik

The ceremony began with a soulful tribute to the late Biju Patnaik. Leaders offered flower garlands to his portrait to mark the start of the proceedings. Gangadhar Panda, the President of the Constituency, presided over the meeting. He welcomed the attendees and highlighted the party's journey over nearly three decades.

Key Address by Dr. Arun Kumar Sahoo

The local MLA, Dr. Arun Kumar Sahoo, delivered a powerful keynote speech during the event. He addressed the current social challenges and criticized the persistence of feudal mindsets in society. Dr. Sahoo emphasized that his primary goal is to serve the common people as one of them.
"An elected representative must always think and act like a servant of the people," Dr. Sahoo stated. He urged party workers to stay organized and disciplined. He further called upon the members to follow the principles and ideals of Biju Patnaik. Dr. Sahoo also encouraged everyone to work hard to strengthen the leadership of Naveen Patnaik.

  • Guruprasad Jena: Vice-Chairman of the Municipality.

Other prominent wings of the party were represented by Women’s BJD President Biraja Laxmi Sahoo, Youth BJD President Duryodhan Behera, and Student BJD President Nilamadhav Panda.

Critical Discussions and Future Goals

Other senior leaders, including Niranjan Mishra, Danardan Dalabehera, and Shrikant Patnaik, also spoke at the event. They raised concerns regarding the policies of the current government. They argued that many promises made to the public remain unfulfilled. The speakers criticized what they described as exploitative policies and urged the cadre to remain vigilant.
The event concluded with a collective pledge to reach out to every household and share the party's vision for a developed Odisha.
