SP S. Susri invited the journalists for a discussion. A delegation of journalists met with the SP. The delegation included Baidyabhushan Mohapatra (Journalist Building President), Anil Kumar Panda (Secretary), Nabakishore Mishra, Ramakrishna Rath, Shubhendra Kumar Pattnaik, Jayendra Behera, and Gitikanta Panda.
The SP listened to all the details of the case. She then directed the Fateagarh Police Station Officer-in-Charge to call the accused person to the station. She advised the officer to discuss the matter and take action according to the law.
Following this assurance, the journalists called off their protest.
Later in the evening, the issue was settled. The resolution came after a discussion held in the presence of Panchanan Behera, the Officer-in-Charge of Fateagarh Police Station.
The assault incident happened on the evening of November 20. Journalist Prabhat Kumar Barada was gathering news about an accident at Bijipur, Bhapur Block. Lakshmidhar Nayak from the nearby village of Lahangapalli attacked him during this time.
Mr. Barada filed a report at the Fateagarh police station about the attack. Police registered a case but did not act quickly. Reportedly, they used less severe legal sections against the accused. Furthermore, police also registered a counter-case against the journalist based on the accused's complaint.
