Nayagarh: (Report - Ramakrushna Rath): The District Legal Services Authority (DLSA) in Nayagarh successfully observed Constitution Day (Samvidhan Diwas) recently. The event took place within the District Court premises. The organizers aimed to highlight the significance of the Indian Constitution and its profound impact on the nation.
Mr. Ananda Narayan Maharana, the District Sessions Judge and Chairman of the DLSA, issued the directive for this important celebration. Under the direct supervision of DLSA Secretary, Ms. Anjali Machhakhand, the program brought together a diverse group of participants. These included lawyers, court staff, Adhikar Mitras (Friends of Rights), DLSA employees, and members of the Inner Wheel organization.
Ms. Machhakhand initiated the proceedings by formally introducing the esteemed guests. Subsequently, Mr. Manas Kumar Panda, Additional District Judge (POCSO), formally inaugurated the event. He paid floral tributes to the portrait of Dr. B. R. Ambedkar, the principal architect of the Indian Constitution.
In his keynote address, Mr. Panda emphasized India’s status as a democratic nation. He highlighted Dr. Ambedkar’s pivotal role as the Constitution's primary framer. The Constitution, he noted, establishes India as a Sovereign, Socialist, Secular, and Democratic Republic. Mr. Panda further detailed the Constitution's timeline: the Constituent Assembly adopted it on November 26, 1949, and it came into force on January 26, 1950.
Mr. Panda then shed light on the core purpose and objective of celebrating Constitution Day. He clarified the definition of a Constitution, explaining its function as the supreme law of the land.
