Three weeks after investigation, zero action taken on corruption allegations
Daspalla – The district administration's unexplained inaction regarding serious corruption allegations at Takara High School in Daspalla Block has raised concerns about accountability and efficiency. Despite a thorough investigation confirming irregularities, no steps have been taken against the accused principal, Mukesh Dugal, prompting outrage from the School Management Committee, Alumni Committee, and parents.
Complaints against Principal Dugal include financial mismanagement, misuse of resources, providing low-quality food to hostel students, and violating government guidelines. Allegations also mention threats against junior staff and hostel residents who raise concerns. The School Management Committee and Alumni Committee submitted detailed petitions to the District Collector, Chief Minister, and Departmental Minister, urging immediate intervention.
Specific accusations include:
· Misuse of funds: Selling excess rice meant for students and profiting from it.
· Financial fraud: Creating fake vouchers to misappropriate grants, including ₹1.5 lakh allocated for a smart classroom.
· Discriminatory practices: Charging excess fees from students belonging to specific communities while showing undue favor to others.
· Unauthorized appointments: Hiring night guards and cleaners without committee approval.
· Frequent changes to resolutions: Manipulating meeting records to avoid scrutiny.
On August 25, under the District Collector's orders, a team including the Block Development Officer (BDE), District Welfare Officer, and Additional District Education Officer conducted an inquiry. The investigation confirmed the allegations, yet no action has been taken even after three weeks.
Pradeep Kumar Sahoo, President of the Alumni Committee, warned that protests will occur if the administration continues to ignore the issue. He emphasized that the administration must be held responsible for any unrest resulting from their inaction.
The community demands immediate action, including:
· Suspension of the principal pending a full investigation.
· Transparency in the use of school funds and grants.
· Improved living conditions for hostel students.
· Accountability for all involved in the irregularities.
The district administration’s silence has led to growing frustration and distrust among stakeholders. The lack of follow-up action after the inquiry has fueled suspicions of undue influence or negligence.
