Supporting Food Security in Less Developed Areas

In his speech, CM Majhi spoke about the need to support Odisha’s less developed regions.
He announced plans to expand the 'Garib Kalyan Ann Yojana' to give more rice to people in poorer areas. This program will help ensure that vulnerable communities in these areas have enough to eat.

Encouraging Youth to Join Defense Services

CM Majhi also introduced the state-level 'Agniveer Training Scheme,' which is part of the national 'Agniveer' initiative that recruits young people for defense service.
He explained that the 'Agniveer' program, started by Prime Minister Narendra Modi, is a new way to prepare youth for service. The state government aims to allow more Odian youth to participate, helping them gain skills and improve their chances of employment in the defense forces.

Remembering Freedom Fighters and Promoting National Unity

The Chief Minister started the day by paying respect to the country’s freedom fighters.
He laid a wreath and honored the soldiers and security personnel who gave their lives for the country’s peace and security. Addressing the crowd, he said that Independence Day is not just a celebration, but a reminder of how hard-fought freedom is and a call to protect the nation’s unity and strength.

Connecting with Students

Part of the celebrations included time spent with students from the Bhima Bhoi School for the Visually Impaired at the Government Guest House in Bhubaneswar.
CM Majhi greeted the students and wished them a bright future. He also encouraged all citizens to work together for the country’s unity, integrity, and progress.

Celebrating Indigenous Defense Success

He also highlighted recent achievements in defense, specifically 'Operation Sindoor.'

Boosting Urban Development with New Councils

To handle the rapid growth of cities, CM Majhi announced the creation of 21 new Notified Area Councils (NACs).
He noted that only 17% of Odisha’s population lives in urban areas. These councils will help improve governance, planning, and services in semi-urban areas, leading to better and more sustainable development.

Honoring Brave Police and Firefighters

The event ended with a ceremony where the Chief Minister awarded medals to officers in the Odisha Police and Fire Services.
This event honored their bravery, dedication, and excellent work in serving the state.
The Chief Minister’s message on Independence Day 2025 shows a clear focus on improving welfare, increasing youth opportunities, managing urban growth, and recognizing the bravery of those in security roles, all in the spirit of national pride and progress.
