Students Plant & Pledge: Banigochha High School Celebrates 76th Van Mahotsav with Mass Tree Plantation | Daspalla

Organized under the auspices of the Adivasi Mangal Vibhag department and supported by the Banigochha (West) Wildlife Sanctuary, the event saw enthusiastic participation from the school's student body. In a powerful display of commitment, every single resident student pledged to nurture the environment by planting at least one sapling. Each young participant made a personal resolution to care for their newly planted tree, fostering a direct connection between the students and their green legacy.
The plantation drive wasn't just about putting saplings in the ground; it was a learning experience. Following the hands-on activity, teachers conducted special sessions highlighting the indispensable role trees play in sustaining human society. They explained the vital connections between forests, clean air, water conservation, biodiversity, and human well-being, reinforcing the festival's core message.
The event drew significant support from forest officials, demonstrating the importance of community collaboration in conservation. Sansar Bargia, Officer of the Banigochha (West) Wildlife Sanctuary, graced the occasion with his presence. He was joined by Forest Guard Rajkumar Satapathy, along with other dignitaries including Deepak Ranjan Acharya, Golak Bihari Behera, and Pushpalata Pradhan. The entire program unfolded under the direct supervision of the School Principal.
Thanks to this collective effort, over one hundred saplings found new homes across the school grounds during the event. These young trees represent not just greenery, but a tangible commitment by the next generation to environmental stewardship. Gardening Tools Gardening Tools on Amazon

Mr. Bargia also outlined the broader conservation efforts underway in the region. Following directives from the Sanctuary office, Forest Guard Rajkumar Satapathy is actively spearheading awareness campaigns across various tribal villages within the Banigochha West forest range. These crucial initiatives focus on forest protection, fire prevention, ongoing tree plantation drives, and wildlife conservation. The goal is clear: foster strong public awareness to ensure the long-term health and safety of these vital forest ecosystems.
The Van Mahotsav celebration at Banigochha High School serves as a shining example of how educational institutions and forest departments can effectively partner. By instilling practical environmental values in students and actively expanding green cover, the event contributes meaningfully to the region's ecological future. The students' pledge to nurture their trees offers genuine hope for a greener, healthier tomorrow.
