Daspalla: (Report- Subash Chandra Barik): On May 16, 2025, National Dengue Day was observed in the highly remote and marginalised area of Banigram, under the jurisdiction of the Kujamendhi Sub-Health Center, which falls under the Middle Cluster Group Health Center of Daspalla.
National Dengue Day Observed in Remote Village of Daspalla with Community Participation

The event was organised to raise awareness about dengue prevention and control, with active participation from local authorities, health workers, and community members.  

The program was attended by local Sarpanch Mrs. Sangita Prusty, female health worker Rashmita Behera, dengue volunteer Subas Chandra Barik, Anganwadi worker Mrs. Saraswati Sahoo, members of the Women's Health Committee, self-help groups, mothers' groups, and other respected villagers. The attendees were educated on the dangers of dengue and the necessary steps to prevent its spread.  

Key messages emphasized during the event yincluded: 

  • Daily use of mosquito repellents and long-lasting insecticidal nets to reduce mosquito bites.  
  • Immediate blood testing (EDCT) in case of fever to detect dengue early.  
  • Proper medication under medical supervision if fever symptoms appear.  
  • Maintaining cleanliness in households and surroundings to eliminate mosquito breeding sites.  
  • Community responsibility in preventing stagnant water accumulation, which contributes to mosquito proliferation. 
The Block Program Coordinator, Mr. Tushar Ranjan Sahoo, oversaw the health initiatives at the grassroots level, ensuring effective implementation. Additionally, Public Health Enforcement Officer (PHEO) Purnachandra Kabi distributed dengue awareness leaflets to reinforce preventive measures. 
The event successfully fostered community awareness, highlighting that collective efforts in sanitation and preventive healthcare can significantly reduce dengue outbreaks. By adopting these practices, the village aims to curb mosquito breeding and gradually decrease the prevalence of vector-borne diseases.  
This initiative underscores the importance of community engagement in public health, particularly in hard-to-reach areas where healthcare access is limited. The collaborative efforts of local leaders, health workers, and residents demonstrate a strong commitment to combating dengue and ensuring a healthier future for the village.
