Nayagarh: The 10th death anniversary of Shramik Yogi, a dedicated environmentalist who tirelessly worked to protect and rejuvenate the forests of Nayagarh district, was recently observed in a solemn yet inspiring ceremony. The event, organized by the Nayagarh Jungle Suraksha Mahasangh in collaboration with several environmental and social organizations, paid homage to Yogi’s lifelong commitment to greening the Tangar hills and safeguarding the region’s ecology.

Held at the Vikas Parishad’s conference hall in Nayagarh, the ceremony brought together people from all walks of life, including environmental activists, social workers, retired forest officials, and local dignitaries. The gathering was presided over by Sarat Chandra Nayak, President of the Mahasangh, with Prasanna Kumar Basantia, Chairman of the Bharat Vikas Parishad, as the chief guest. Notable speakers included Bhagaban Sahu, retired forest officer Suresh Chandra Hota, and Sister Mini of the Om Shanti family, among others.  
Shramik Yogi was remembered as a selfless warrior who devoted his days and nights to reforesting Nayagarh’s hills, ensuring a greener and healthier environment for future generations. His relentless efforts earned him the title of a true "Prakriti Yodha" (Nature Warrior). The attendees pledged to continue his mission, vowing to turn his dream of a sustainable and verdant Nayagarh into reality.

The event concluded with a vote of thanks by Kishore Chandra Dalabehera, Secretary of the Jungle Suraksha Mahasangh, who expressed gratitude to all participants for making the program a success. The ceremony not only honored Shramik Yogi’s legacy but also reignited the collective resolve to protect Odisha’s forests and biodiversity, ensuring that his vision lives on.
