Bhubaneswar: In a significant move to address urban congestion and enhance infrastructure, Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi chaired a high-level review meeting at Lok Seva Bhawan today to assess ongoing and proposed development projects in the Bhubaneswar-Cuttack Twin City region. The discussions centered on an integrated urban development plan, traffic decongestion strategies, and key infrastructure upgrades aimed at transforming the capital into a modern, well-connected metropolis.
To further streamline traffic, the Sundarpada-Jatni road will be widened, and three new flyovers will be built at critical junctions—Kalpana Chhak, Museum Chhak, and Shishu Bhawan Chhak—along with an underpass at AG Chhak to prevent bottlenecks.
Key Projects Under Review
1. Elevated Corridor & Road Expansions
One of the most ambitious projects discussed was the proposed elevated corridor from Jayadev Vihar to Nandankanan, expected to significantly reduce travel time between these high-traffic zones. 2. Parallel Roads & Inner Ring Road
A left parallel road will be developed from the Institute of Mathematics via Pathargadia, Utkal Hospital, and Rail Vihar to Ekamra Kanan, providing an alternative route to decongest major arteries. Moreover, three right access roads will be constructed:- Damana to Press Chhak
- Kalahanga to Barimunda
- Kelucharan Park to Barimunda
Rehabilitation & Financial Assistance for Displaced Families
Recognizing the impact of infrastructure development on residents, the Chief Minister assured that 366 displaced families will be rehabilitated and provided financial assistance.
