Odisha Announces Rs 28,355 Crore Investment to Boost Kendrapada’s Industrial and Tourism Growth

Kendrapada: The Odisha government has unveiled an ambitious plan to invest Rs 28,355 crore in setting up four major industries in Kendrapada district, marking a transformative step towards bolstering the region’s industrial landscape. The announcement was made by Industries Minister Sampad Chandra Swain during the inaugural Jambudweep Mahotsav held in Ramanagar village on Wednesday.
Odisha Announces Rs 28,355 Crore Investment to Boost Kendrapada’s Industrial and Tourism Growth

Industrial Expansion and Economic Growth

Highlighting Kendrapada’s strategic importance, Swain stated that the district is poised to play a pivotal role in Odisha’s industrial and economic framework. Work has already commenced on the ArcelorMittal Nippon Steel (AMNS) plant in Mahakalapada block, a project expected to generate significant employment opportunities and spur ancillary industries.
“Our vision is to create a vibrant industrial ecosystem by fostering strong partnerships between MSMEs and large-scale industries,” Swain emphasized.
The state government’s focus on inclusive development aims to ensure that local businesses and communities benefit from these investments, thereby driving both state and national progress.

Tourism Infrastructure Development

In addition to industrial growth, the government has outlined comprehensive plans to enhance Kendrapada’s tourism potential. Among the key projects is the restoration of the 149-year-old Hukitola building, a British-era structure located on a picturesque mangrove-covered island. The site will be developed into a major tourist attraction, offering visitors a glimpse into the region’s colonial heritage.
Another significant initiative includes constructing a bridge over the Nasi River at Kharinashi to connect the mainland with the historic False Point lighthouse. Built 188 years ago, this lighthouse is one of India’s oldest and is expected to become a prominent landmark for tourists.

Spiritual and Healthcare Advancements

The state also plans to renovate the Ma Ramachandi temple in Ramanagar village under a comprehensive master plan. The project will involve upgrading roads, constructing boundary walls, improving drinking water facilities, and enhancing security measures to accommodate the increasing number of devotees.
On the healthcare front, Health Minister Mukesh Mahaling announced plans to establish a medical college in Kendrapada, addressing the region’s need for advanced medical education and services. He also highlighted the successful implementation of key healthcare schemes, including the integrated Ayushman Bharat and Gopabandhu Jan Arogya Yojana, ensuring affordable and accessible healthcare across the state.

A Collaborative Effort for Development

The Jambudweep Mahotsav saw the presence of key officials, including Mahakalapada MLA Durgaprasan Nayak and Additional District Magistrate Nilu Mohapatra, who reiterated the government’s commitment to holistic development. The projects announced are expected to not only boost industrial and tourism sectors but also improve the overall quality of life for Kendrapada’s residents.
With these initiatives, Odisha is taking a giant leap towards positioning Kendrapada as a key economic and cultural hub, fostering sustainable growth and prosperity for years to come.
