NAYAGARH, SEPT 5 (Sanatan Mahakud): Teachers' Day was celebrated with a unique and traditional touch at the Government Primary School in Kadalibandha, under the Odagaon block, on Thursday. The special commemorative event, presided over by Headmaster Ranjan Kumar Dash, was highlighted by the heartfelt felicitation of the institution's former educators. 
Former teacher Gopal Chandra Majhi graced the occasion as the Chief Guest, while Manojini Senapati attended as the Chief Speaker. During the event, two retired teachers from the school took a trip down memory lane, sharing their rich teaching experiences and life lessons with the young students.
The celebration began on a traditional note. Students paid rich tributes to their teachers and former President of India, Dr. Sarvepalli Radhakrishnan. They worshipped his portrait by offering flowers, sandalwood paste, and incense, alongside lighting ceremonial lamps. Following the tribute, students took turns delivering speeches highlighting the significance of the day and the role of teachers in shaping society.
Addressing the gathering, the esteemed guests reflected on the evolution of the sacred Guru-Shishya (teacher-student) tradition, comparing its historical values with present-day educational dynamics.
In a touching gesture, the school felicitated the guest educators with traditional shawls (upadhaukana), flowers, and pens. The veteran teachers were visibly overwhelmed with emotion, expressing their deep gratitude for being invited back to their former workplace and receiving such profound respect post-retirement.
Teacher Rita Panda successfully coordinated the day's programme and proposed the formal vote of thanks to conclude the ceremony.
