Massive Fire Breaks Out at Katak Dairy Factory in Odisha

A factory worker explained the start of the event. The workers noticed a small amount of smoke at first. They looked at the smoke and guessed its origin. They thought the smoke came from the cold storage section of the factory. The cold storage section keeps the dairy products cold. However, the situation changed after a few minutes. The smoke grew thicker and darker. The workers finally realized a real fire was burning inside the building. They stopped their work immediately. They picked up the phone and called the Fire Services Department for help.
The fire department received the emergency call. They dispatched two fire service teams to the factory right away. The teams arrived at the industrial area quickly. The firefighters stepped out of their vehicles and started their work. They used their equipment to fight the flames. The firefighters worked fast to control the fire. They aimed to stop the fire from reaching other parts of the factory. Local people stood outside and watched the firefighters do their job. The firefighters successfully kept the fire in one specific area and prevented further spread.
Abani Swain works as the Deputy Range Fire Officer in Katak. He gave an official update about the situation. He stated that the firefighters completely stopped the fire. The fire department plans to inspect the whole building now. They want to check the final damage to the factory. Officials do not know the exact cause of the fire yet. They need to investigate the building first. Right now, they suspect an electrical short circuit started the fire. Electrical issues often cause fires in large manufacturing buildings.
The company has not released a report about injuries. Officials still need to confirm if any workers suffered harm during the event. The factory management will calculate the financial loss soon. They will look at the damaged machines and the ruined dairy products. The authorities will release more details later today. Factory owners and local authorities will continue to monitor the site.
