Bhubaneswar: Odisha Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi reviewed traffic management and urban development plans for Bhubaneswar and Cuttack during a high-level meeting at Lok Seva Bhavan. The state government aims to resolve growing traffic congestion, improve road safety, and enhance the visual order of the Twin City.
During the meeting, the Chief Minister examined the details of the comprehensive Traffic Decongestion Plan. He instructed officials to widen key transit routes into eight-lane roads to handle rising vehicular traffic. He also directed department secretaries to repair all damaged roads and major traffic junctions immediately. In addition, the administration will clean, organize, and develop the connecting corridors between Bhubaneswar and Cuttack.
The Chief Minister placed special focus on the major travel route that connects Cuttack to Puri through Bhubaneswar. He directed officials to create a smooth travel corridor so pilgrims, tourists, and daily commuters can travel without traffic delays. To achieve this goal, the state will construct new flyovers and overbridges at critical bottlenecks along the highway.
The plan also integrates modern technology and strict traffic enforcement. The administration will install smart traffic signal systems and CCTV surveillance cameras at all major intersections. Furthermore, local authorities will conduct regular enforcement drives to eliminate illegal parking along busy streets and maintain clear driving lanes.
Chief Minister Majhi called for strong coordination among key government bodies. He instructed the Twin City Police Commissionerate, the Works Department, the Housing and Urban Development Department, and local municipal administrations to work together as a unified team to execute these projects quickly.
Senior state officials attended the review meeting, including Chief Secretary Anu Garg, Development Commissioner D. K. Singh, and Additional Chief Secretary to the Chief Minister Saswat Mishra. Principal Secretary of the Works Department Sanjay Kumar Singh, Twin City Police Commissioner S. Dev Datta Singh, and other departmental officers were also present.
