NUAPADA, (Report- Malaya Meher): The Nuapada district administration removed Sub-Registrar Sarveshwar Jal from his official duties on August 19. The administration acted on complaints regarding irregularities in a land ownership transfer in Chandhopala village under Komna tehsil. Nuapada District Collector Madhusudan Das issued the official order against the Sub-Registrar. The district administration appointed Additional Tehsildar Soumyashree Mallick to take over the charge of the Sub-Registrar office.
The case centers on a land parcel originally owned by Jagat Ram Pradhani. His son, Satyanarayan Pradhani, and his daughter, Kumudini Pradhani, filed a formal complaint with the revenue department. The siblings alleged that unauthorized persons transferred their family land through improper registration practices. They demanded a thorough inquiry into the role of the local registration office.
The district administration started a departmental probe immediately after receiving the complaint. Revenue officials reviewed the land records and verified the ownership documents. As a result of this administrative intervention, the authorities restored 4.40 decimals of land to the original land record.
The investigating officers also clarified the legal limitations of the revenue administration. They stated that administrative officers do not possess the legal authority to cancel registered sale deeds directly. Therefore, the officials advised the complainants to file a petition in a competent civil court to cancel the disputed registration deed.
District Collector Madhusudan Das relieved Sub-Registrar Sarveshwar Jal from his duties to ensure an impartial probe. The revenue department continues to investigate the exact procedural lapses in the registration process. The inquiry will determine individual responsibility and establish whether officials followed the standard verification guidelines.
The complainants expect a complete legal resolution of the land dispute. Meanwhile, the district administration stated that it will take further administrative action based on the findings of the final inquiry report.
