Bhubaneswar: ​The Indian Institute of Management Sambalpur recently hosted an inaugural ceremony to begin its new academic session. The institute welcomed the second batch of students for its four-year Bachelor of Science programs. These undergraduate programs offer two distinct specializations. The first specialisation is Data Science and Artificial Intelligence. The second specialisation is Management and Public Policy. The new academic batch will complete their studies between the years 2026 and 2030. The institute organised this welcome event at the Konark Auditorium located on the campus.

​The event featured Dr. Bidyut Ranjan Sarangi as the chief guest. Dr. Sarangi serves as a member of the National Human Rights Commission and holds the position of an honorable judge. He delivered a keynote address to the incoming students. During his speech, he advised the students about their future roles in society. He asked the students to focus on ethical leadership and constitutional values. He also highlighted the need for social responsibility in their daily lives. Furthermore, Dr. Sarangi encouraged the students to maintain a strong commitment to public service. He explained that these specific qualities will help the students build a better future for the country.
​Professor Mahadeo Jaiswal, the Director of IIM Sambalpur, chaired the inaugural session. He welcomed the new students to the campus and explained the primary goals of the institution. He stated that IIM Sambalpur wants to produce graduates who possess strong technical skills and social responsibility. He also wants the students to compete effectively on a global level. Additionally, Professor Jaiswal discussed the teaching methods used at the institute. He highlighted the case-based teaching method. Instructors use this method to explain real-world situations. To explain this clearly, he gave examples of major historical changes. He mentioned the Green Revolution, the White Revolution, the Space Revolution, and the modern Artificial Intelligence Revolution.
​The event also provided specific details about the academic curriculum. The speakers discussed the core subjects for the Management and Public Policy students. This particular course focuses on several important areas. It combines management practices with modern technology. It also includes governance and public policy topics. The program teaches students how to make effective decisions using data.
