The ship carried a crew of 24 people. The crew came from three different countries. Twenty sailors are from China. Three sailors are from Myanmar. One sailor is from Bangladesh.
The operating company lost contact with the vessel on August 22. They noticed the communication failure at 11:48 am. Victory Star Group Co Ltd immediately contacted the Maritime Rescue Coordination Centre in Sri Vijaya Puram. The company reported the issue. They also requested urgent search and rescue assistance.
