Bhubaneswar: The Odisha state government signed two major business agreements with technology companies HCLTech and Sarvam AI. Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi oversaw the signing ceremony in Bhubaneswar. Through these agreements, the companies will build a Global Development Centre and a new AI Park. The AI Park will feature a data centre designed specifically for artificial intelligence work. 
These projects will bring significant money and jobs to the state. Officials expect total investments to exceed Rs 15,000 crore over the next five years. The new facilities will create over 6,000 direct jobs for skilled workers. Out of the total amount, HCLTech plans to invest around Rs 730 crore into its specific projects.
Several important leaders attended the signing event. Electronics and Information Technology Minister Mukesh Mahaling joined the meeting. HCLTech Chairperson Roshni Nadar Malhotra and Sarvam AI Chief Executive Officer Pratyush Kumar also attended the ceremony alongside senior government officials.
Chief Minister Majhi spoke to the attendees about the new projects. He noted that the signing took place on the day of the local Bahuda Rath Yatra festival. He stated that the agreements will improve the technology industry in Odisha. Under the first agreement, HCLTech will construct the Global Development Centre. Under the second agreement, HCLTech and Sarvam AI will build the AI Data Centre at the new Odisha Sovereign AI Park. The Chief Minister explained that this data centre will protect local data and help the state grow its digital economy.
HCLTech Chairperson Roshni Nadar Malhotra also addressed the group. She recalled a meeting with the Chief Minister at the HCLTech campus in Noida last year. During that meeting, the Chief Minister presented the state's business policies for technology and data centres. Malhotra said HCLTech chose Odisha because the state offers skilled workers and many engineering colleges. She added that Odisha acts faster than many other states in building technology infrastructure.
Malhotra also outlined plans to train local students. HCLTech will collaborate with local engineering institutes and Sarvam AI to teach new skills. She explained that companies need time to build a workforce trained in artificial intelligence. To solve this, the companies will teach modern technology skills to recent engineering graduates and prepare them for future jobs.
