Bhubaneswar: Heavy rainfall in the state of Odisha caused major rivers to cross their danger levels. The high water levels created floods across six districts. These floods currently affect more than 200,000 people. River water broke through multiple riverbanks and entered residential areas. The state government immediately started relief operations to manage the situation and assist the public. 
According to the Special Relief Commissioner, the floodwaters reached 748 villages. The water completely surrounded 226 of these villages. Residents in these isolated locations cannot travel by road. The official state report confirms four deaths due to the flood events. The four worst-affected districts include Jajpur, Bhadrak, Balasore, and Keonjhar. The Nabarangpur district also reports significant infrastructure issues due to the ongoing weather conditions.
State administration officials focus heavily on emergency rescue tasks. Government workers moved nearly 28,000 residents away from dangerous flood zones. They transported these people to safe government shelters and relief camps. The state deployed 17 specialized rescue teams to handle the evacuations. These units include members from the National Disaster Response Force (NDRF) and the Odisha Disaster Rapid Action Force (ODRAF). The rescue workers use boats to transport people from the cut-off villages.
The floods also caused specific damage to local transportation routes. In the Nabarangpur district, floodwater fully submerged a temporary bridge over the Tel River. This bridge connects the towns of Umerkote and Raighar. Because the water covers the structure, vehicles cannot travel between the two locations. This roadblock halts normal travel and transport in that specific region.
