NIMAPADA, (Report- Ajay Mallik): Devotees in the Puri district are eagerly preparing for a grand spiritual event. They will send fresh fruits and holy items to Lord Jagannath in Puri. This special offering comes from Madhab village in Niali. People across the state consider Madhab to be the maternal uncle’s house of Lord Jagannath. The devotees will send this special offering to the famous Puri Jagannath Temple during the holy Anasara period.
Lord Jagannath's Anasara: Special Fruit Offering from Madhab

Anasara is a very important time in the temple calendar. Lord Jagannath, Lord Balabhadra, and Devi Subhadra take a grand holy bath during Snana Purnima. After this long bath, the deities supposedly fall sick. They rest in a secret room for fifteen days. During this resting time, the priests do not offer them regular temple food. Instead, the deities need special care, herbal medicines, and fresh fruits to recover. As a sweet tradition, the maternal uncle’s house sends healthy fruits out of deep love and devotion.
To plan this massive event, local leaders and temple servitors held a special meeting. They gathered at the Sri Madhabananda Jew Park on June 28. Ashok Pushpalak led this important meeting. He serves as the president of the Madhabananda Jew Bikash Parishad. The committee members discussed all the final details to make the event highly successful. They made a clear and safe plan for the holy journey.
The committee fixed the journey date for the 10th of the month. At exactly 8:00 AM, the procession will begin. Devotees will pack ten large baskets full of fresh, seasonal fruits. Local villagers will lovingly collect these fruits right from their own backyard gardens. They will donate coconuts, bananas, mangoes, and sweet jackfruits. They will also pack guavas, pineapples, sapotas, water apples, pomegranates, apples, and grapes. Furthermore, the devotees will send pure cow ghee, fresh curd, sandalwood, and incense resin. The temple priests will use these pure items to treat the sick deities.
The journey from Madhab to Puri brings great joy to the locals. A dedicated singing group will join the fruit procession. They will sing holy songs and chant the Lord's name all the way to Puri. Many important local figures attended the planning meeting to show their support. Temple servitors including Trilochan Pushpalak, Lakshmidhar Pushpalak, and Purna Pushpalak gave their valuable suggestions. Former Niali block chairman Nyayabrata Rout also joined the gathering. Other active community members like Pitambar Rout, Trilochan Behera, Kumarbar Dash, Sukant Sahu, and Ashok Khuntia took part in the discussions. They all promised to work together to deliver the holy offerings safely to the Puri temple.
