Bhubaneswar: (Report- Lipikarani Raut): The Odia daily newspaper "Pratikar" recently celebrated its 19th foundation day. The organisers held a grand state-level event at Jayadev Bhawan in Bhubaneswar. During this event, they also hosted the "Odisha Pratibha Samman 2026" award ceremony. Many famous people, writers, and journalists attended this beautiful program to celebrate the success of the publication.

A Focus on Journalism and Justice

The main theme of the special program was "Journalism and Justice." Eminent journalist Sriram Das inaugurated the event. Former Member of the Legislative Assembly and senior political leader Priyadarshi Mishra attended as the chief guest. Subhashish Mishra, the founder and editor of Pratikar, successfully chaired the meeting.
Many other important guests joined the celebration. These guests included journalist Dr. Maheshwar, Rakesh Mohanty, and Suryaprakash Mohanty. Famous cinema actress Sital Patra also graced the occasion. Senior journalist Sudhanshu Mohapatra, Khirod Chandra Pati, and writer Dr. Prasant Biswal attended the event. Sushant Behera, the Chairman of Papadahandi Development, also joined the stage as an honorable guest.

Protecting the Rights of Journalists

The speakers discussed the basic problems of modern journalists. They requested the government to take correct steps to solve these daily issues. They demanded proper safety, respect, and recognition for all media workers.
The speakers noted that bad actors sometimes attack journalists. They asked the authorities to punish these attackers strictly and give real justice to the reporters. The guests explained that when journalists feel completely safe, they can report the news truthfully and guide the public in the right direction.

Technology and Democracy

The event also highlighted the use of modern technology in the media. The speakers talked about Artificial Intelligence (AI). They mentioned that many newspapers now use AI to create news stories. However, they warned that this practice creates doubts about the truth and facts of the news.
The speakers reminded everyone about the main goals of the Press Council of India. They said that newspapers and journalists must work as awake guards of the truth. If journalists do their jobs honestly and always verify their facts, they will make the country's democracy much stronger.

Awards and Conclusion

Later in the program, the organizers honored many successful people from different fields. They gave them the prestigious "Odisha Pratibha Samman" award for their great work and dedication to society.
Senior journalist Pramod Kishor Parida thanked all the journalist friends who traveled from different districts to attend the function. He used this stage to make a special request to the government. He asked the government to quickly start a good pension system for all working journalists. Finally, the organizers gave a warm vote of thanks to end the successful and inspiring event.
