Tikabali (June 13): (Report- Akulananda Digal): A grand and colorful Raja festival took place at the Maa Bhairabi Kalyan Mandap in Tikabali, located in the Kandhamal district. The vibrant event brought together more than 500 traditional artists and local people. Everyone celebrated this famous agricultural festival of Odisha with great joy and enthusiasm.
The Maa Banadevi Cultural Group of Tengedapathar organized this beautiful cultural event. They proudly partnered with the Department of Odia Language, Literature, and Culture, Government of Odisha, to make the festival a huge success. Smt. Apsari Digal led the organizing committee as the chief convenor. Her dedicated team worked very hard to arrange the entire program smoothly.
Sri Dilip Kanhar, the Chairman of the Tikabali Panchayat Samiti, attended the joyful program as the Chief Guest. He gave an inspiring speech to the large gathering. During his talk, he highlighted the rich cultural traditions of the Raja festival. He beautifully explained the deep relationship between Mother Earth and the local farming community. He reminded everyone how farmers respect the earth and celebrate nature during these special days.
Many other respected guests shared the main stage. These prominent figures included State Vice President Sri Ramabish Digal, District Cultural Forum President Sri Akshay Karna, and Jagaran Mancha President Sri Paresh Patra. Several well-known social workers also attended the event to show their support. People like Patra Digal, Sairam Behera, Anant Nayak, Smt. Purnima Digal, Smt. Sunanda Kanhar, and Jita Digal graced the occasion with their positive presence.
A respected local teacher, Sri Sudhir Kumar Sahu, perfectly hosted and managed the stage programs. The committee President Beby Kanhar, Secretary Binodini Digal, and other active members fully supported him to keep the event highly organized. During the function, many talented local artists performed beautiful cultural shows. The honorable guests praised these artists for their hard work and dedication. The guests handed out special appreciation certificates and lovely mementos to honor the amazing performers.
The beautiful festival ended on a very happy and sweet note. All the people at the venue enjoyed the traditional foods of the famous Raja festival. They happily ate delicious homemade Raja Pitha, drank refreshing Pana, and chewed the famous Raja Paan. Young women and children played on traditional outdoor rope swings called 'Doli'. They also participated in 'Dhuli Khela' (fun traditional games played in the dust). The entire place filled completely with loud laughter, sweet music, and a strong spirit of community togetherness.
