Thief Caught in Cuttack: RPF Recovers ₹3.5 Lakh in Stolen Gadgets

Valuable Items Recovered

The police officers searched the suspect immediately after they caught him. They found many valuable electronic devices. The police recovered several top-quality smartphones, a laptop computer, a digital tablet, and an iPad. The thief stole all these expensive items from different train passengers over the last few weeks. Now, the police will work hard to return these gadgets to their real owners.

A Larger Criminal Group

The police identified the arrested man as Ganesh Prasad Sahoo. However, the police know he does not work alone. They say he is an active member of a large criminal group. This group steals things across different states in the country. The group members mainly target the very busy Howrah-Chennai railway route. Many trains travel on this long route every single day.
The thieves follow a simple plan. They look for busy and rushing passengers. Travelers often feel tired or distracted during long trips. The thieves use this distraction to steal bags and smart devices. They quietly take the items and leave the train before anyone notices.

How the Police Caught Him

Recently, many passengers reported lost items to the railway police. Because of these reports, the RPF started a special safety mission. The police officers increased their daily checks at the railway station. They watched the station crowds very closely.
The railway police used more video cameras to monitor the train platforms. They even sent officers in regular daily clothes to mix with the crowds. These secret officers watched the platforms for any suspicious activities. This smart plan helped them catch the thief.

Next Steps for Safety

A senior RPF officer spoke clearly about the arrest. He stated that the police are currently looking for the other group members. The officer promised that they will catch the rest of the gang soon. He repeated that passenger safety remains their main goal.
The police currently keep Ganesh Prasad Sahoo in jail. They will ask him more questions to find out extra information. They want to know the names of his friends and where they hide other stolen things.
The railway police advise all passengers to stay careful during their journeys. Travelers should keep a close eye on their bags and costly items. They should report any strange person to the railway police right away. This teamwork between passengers and police will help stop train thefts completely.
