NAYAGARH, May 8, 2026 (Ramakrushna Rath): Sarankul FC has won the 2026 CM Trophy Football Tournament. They defeated the Khandapada team with a final score of 2-0. The local sports ground hosted this exciting championship match today. The Odisha Football Association and the District Athletic Association organised the popular tournament together. Sports fans from across the region gathered to watch the game and support the athletes.

The final match showed great skill and teamwork from both sides. During the first half of the game, both teams played strong defense. Neither team scored a single goal in the first half. The players fought hard to control the field. However, the game changed during the second half. Sarankul FC attacked with more energy and speed. They successfully scored two goals against Khandapada. These two goals secured their ultimate victory and the championship title.
The match officials managed the game perfectly. Prakash Biswal served as the chief referee for the final match. Subas Chandra Behera and Biswajit Mohapatra supported him as assistant referees. They ensured a fair game for everyone. Kamaruddin Khan acted as the official match commissioner.
After the game, the organizers held a grand prize distribution ceremony. Khandapada MLA Dusmanta Kumar Swain attended the event as the chief guest. He praised all the players for their hard work and excellent sportsmanship. He then presented the championship cup to the winning Sarankul FC team. He also handed the runner-up trophy to the Khandapada team. Senior journalist Ramakrishna Rath hosted this special ceremony. He also provided lively commentary throughout the football match.
Many important officials attended the sports event to show their support. Smt. Madhumita Rath, the District Collector and President of the District Athletic Association, presided over the function. Zilla Parishad Chairman Engineer Debashis Patnaik joined as an honored guest. Sub-Collector Karndev Samaddar and District Sports Officer (DSO) Sujata Sahoo also attended the ceremony.
The guests rewarded many different athletes today. They gave prizes to the winners of other CM Trophy sports events. These other events included Kho Kho, Kabaddi, and Volleyball. This made the ceremony a massive celebration of local sports and talent.
Many dedicated committee members worked hard to make this tournament successful. Secretary Ashesh Kumar Dash led the organizing team. Vice Presidents Bhawanishankar Das, Prashant Kumar Behera, Nishikant Mohanty, and Biranchi Behera helped manage the sports activities. Alok Dash, a retired DSO and the Selection Committee Chairman, was also present. Together, they made the 2026 CM Trophy a highly successful and memorable event.
