Keonjhar, (Kartik Behera): In a tragic and heartbreaking incident in Odisha's Keonjhar district, a man brought the mortal remains of his deceased sister to a local bank. He took this extreme step after bank staff refused to release her savings and demanded her physical presence.
Shocking: Odisha Man Brings Sister's Remains to Bank to Claim Savings

Jitu Munda lives in Maliposhi village in the Patna block. His sister, Kalara Munda, passed away two months ago. She left ₹19,300 in her local bank account. Jitu visited the bank several times to withdraw this money.
The bank employees did not believe Jitu. They repeatedly ignored his statements about his sister's passing. Instead of guiding him to submit a standard death certificate, the educated bank staff insisted that Kalara must come to the bank herself to sign the withdrawal papers.
Jitu felt completely helpless and frustrated. He went to his sister's resting place, retrieved her remains, and carried them straight to the bank to prove that she had passed away. This deeply sad event shocked the local community. It also reminded people of similar past tragedies in the state, such as the widely discussed Dana Majhi incident.
Local police heard the news and immediately rushed to the bank. Initially, Jitu stood his ground. He demanded the money and refused to leave, fearing the bank would just send him away with the same excuse the next day.
The police and bank officials spoke with him patiently and eventually calmed him down. Afterward, the police helped Jitu return his sister's remains to her resting place respectfully.
