Athagarh, April 26, 2026 (Rupashree Swetapadma Mohanty): In response to the ongoing heatwave, the Bharatiya Janata Party today inaugurated a water kiosk at Laxmi Bazaar near Athagarh’s Old Bus Stand to provide relief to pedestrians and travelers. The kiosk will remain open to the public for the next two months. 
Cuttack MP Bhartruhari Mahtab and BJP leader Abhay Kumar Barik jointly inaugurated the facility by cutting the ribbon. Speaking at the event, MP Mahtab said the kiosk would help ease the thirst of passersby during the scorching summer. He also stated that work on the Athagarh railway project and the city’s ring road will begin soon.
The inauguration was attended by several senior BJP leaders and party workers from Cuttack district, along with more than a hundred workers from the Athagarh Assembly constituency. BJP leader and MLA candidate Abhay Barik was also present.
