NAYAGARH: (Report- Ramakrushna Rath): The industrial landscape of Nayagarh district is set for a major transformation. A new sugar mill will be established in the region very soon. This project follows the directions of Union Home Minister Amit Shah. Under the Ministry of Cooperation, a specialized team from Indian Potash Limited (IPL) has already reached Nayagarh to begin the groundwork.

Upon their arrival, the IPL team held a high-level meeting with the district administration. The officials discussed several critical aspects of the project to ensure a smooth start. The primary focus of the discussion included:
Land Identification: Finding the most suitable location for the factory.
  • Acquisition Process: Planning the legal and administrative steps to acquire the necessary land.
  • Technical Requirements: Assessing the infrastructure and machinery needed for modern sugar production.
The team also conducted field visits to evaluate potential sites. The collaboration between the central agency and the local administration aims to fast-track the project and avoid unnecessary delays.

Puri Member of Parliament (MP) Sambit Patra shared his insights on the project’s significance. He stated that the sugar mill is not just an industrial unit; it is a gateway to prosperity for the people of Nayagarh.
"The establishment of this sugar mill will give a new direction to the industrial growth of the district. It will create numerous employment opportunities for local youth, farmers, and common citizens," said Patra.
The project is expected to benefit thousands of local farmers who grow sugarcane. Currently, many farmers face challenges in transporting their crops to distant mills. Having a local facility will reduce their costs and ensure better prices for their produce. This shift will likely encourage more farmers to take up sugarcane cultivation, boosting the agricultural economy of the district.
