NAYAGARH: (Report- Ramakrushna Rath): The Nayagarh District Congress Committee (DCC) held a high-level executive meeting today to strengthen its grassroots presence. The meeting took place at the Nuarajabati Kalyan Mandap under the leadership of DCC President and senior advocate Ranjit Dash. The primary focus of the gathering was to streamline the party organisation and prepare for upcoming public outreach programs.

New Leadership and Appointments

The event began with the hoisting of the National Congress flag by Shri Jetti Kusum Kumar, the Secretary of the All India Congress Committee (AICC) and Co-In-Charge of Odisha Congress. During the session, the party formally welcomed its newly appointed Vice Presidents, General Secretaries, and Treasurers.
Leaders from various blocks, Urban Local Bodies (ULBs), and the Nayagarh Municipality were also present. Shri Kusum Kumar honored these members with traditional scarves and officially handed over their organizational responsibilities. President Ranjit Dash administered an oath to the new officials, urging them to work with honesty and dedication.

Key Deadlines and Accountability

The party has set a strict timeline for its internal restructuring:
  • February Deadline: The party aims to select presidents for all 24 Zilla Parishad zones and finalize full committees for every block by the end of this month.
  • Performance Reviews: To ensure efficiency, the work of block presidents will be reviewed every three months.
  • Monitoring: Senior Vice President and former Block Chairman, Shri Laxmidhar Tripathi, has been given the specific task of monitoring the party's organisational health across the district.
Shri Kusum Kumar advised the DCC President to hold monthly executive meetings to track progress and ensure that workers remain disciplined and connected to the people.

Future Roadmap: The April Padyatra

While speaking to the media, District President Ranjit Dash announced a major public outreach plan. Once the organisational structure is finalised in March, the Congress party will launch a district-wide Padyatra (foot march) in April. This march aims to connect with citizens directly and highlight local issues.

Tributes and Attendance

Before the discussions began, the members observed two minutes of silence to honor the memory of former Union Minister Kanhu Charan Lenka.
The meeting saw participation from several prominent figures, including senior leader Hussain Khan, Satyabrata Nayak, Ranpur MLA candidate Bibhu Prasad Mishra, and District Student Congress President Shibaranjan Sahu. The session concluded with a vote of thanks by Shri Tripathi. The party has decided to hold its next meeting in Odagaon.
