NAYAGARH: (Ramakrushna Rath): In a heart-warming visit focused on social welfare, the District Collector of Nayagarh, Madhumita Rath, visited the local non-governmental organisation "SEVA" today. The visit aimed to review various welfare projects dedicated to the rehabilitation of persons with disabilities and the support of vulnerable women.
She held a detailed discussion with the staff regarding operational challenges. She focused on finding practical solutions to ensure that every person with a disability receives seamless support. She also spoke with the parents of the children to understand their needs and expectations from the district administration.
Finally, she praised the Skill Development Program for visually impaired youth, which is funded by the National Institute for the Visually Handicapped, New Delhi. She noted that such vocational training is essential for making the youth self-reliant and confident.
Through this visit, Collector Madhumita Rath reaffirmed the government's commitment to inclusive growth, ensuring that the most vulnerable sections of society are not left behind.
A Warm Welcome
The Collector arrived at the SEVA headquarters at 9:00 AM. She received a gracious welcome from the General Secretary, Amarendra Kumar Das Parija, along with Sanjay Kumar Subudhi, Baikuntha Nath Mahapatra, and several staff members and residents. The children at the center greeted her with colorful bouquets and smiles.Reviewing Specialized Education and Therapy
Collector Rath spent significant time at the Special School for Intellectually Disabled Children. She took a keen interest in the technical aspects of the children’s development, including:- Physiotherapy sessions
- Occupational therapy
- Speech therapy
- Specialized classroom education
Strengthening the District Disability Rehabilitation Center (DDRC)
During her visit to the District Disability Rehabilitation Center, the Collector evaluated the facilities available for patients. She walked through the physical therapy department, the artificial limbs unit, and the speech therapy wing.She held a detailed discussion with the staff regarding operational challenges. She focused on finding practical solutions to ensure that every person with a disability receives seamless support. She also spoke with the parents of the children to understand their needs and expectations from the district administration.
Focus on Women’s Safety and Skill Development
The visit concluded with a tour of "Shakti Sadan," an integrated shelter for vulnerable women and children. The Collector inspected the living conditions, food quality, and medical facilities. She emphasized the importance of providing legal aid and long-term rehabilitation for the residents.Finally, she praised the Skill Development Program for visually impaired youth, which is funded by the National Institute for the Visually Handicapped, New Delhi.
