Nilambar Sahu Named BCJD General Secretary: Pledges to Save Lives Through Organ Donation

Following his appointment, Sahu made a profound humanitarian commitment. He has formally pledged to donate his organs and tissues to the National Health Department after his death. Sahu stated that instead of allowing his body to be cremated, he wishes to save lives by giving others a second chance at health.

A Decade of Public Service

Nilambar Sahu’s political journey spans over ten years, starting from grassroots student leadership to his current state-level role. His career is marked by several key milestones:
  • 2014: Served as the President of Karlapada Degree College, where he led marches and protests to protect student rights.
  • 2016: As the BCJD Block President, he successfully organised the "Haq Maguchi Odisha" (Odisha Demands its Rights) campaign.
  • 2018: Served as the District Vice-President, strengthening the party’s student presence in the region.
  • 2023–Present: As the Sadar Assembly Constituency President, he has remained active in public service despite the party not being in power, focusing on regional development and government accountability.

Commitment to the Community

Sahu is widely recognised for his hands-on approach to social work. He has been a vocal advocate for the Biju Swasthya Kalyan Yojana (BSKY), helping poor patients navigate hospital services and ensuring government welfare schemes reach the grassroots level.
Party members and local citizens have praised Sahu’s decision to donate his organs, viewing it as a powerful example of leadership and selflessness.
