Nayagarh (Report: Ramakrushna Rath) – The Rotary Bhawan in Nayagarh resonated with melody and competition this past weekend as it hosted the grand finale of "Voice of Nayagarh" Season 6. The prestigious district-level singing competition, a flagship event organized by the Nayagarh Club, concluded with young talent Pritipadma Mishra emerging as the champion.
The Nayagarh Club has dedicated the past five years to this initiative, aiming to uncover and promote the hidden musical talents of the district's youth. The grand finale served as a vibrant platform for these aspiring artists, showcasing their skills before a live audience and a distinguished panel of judges.
The Honourable Chairman of the Zilla Parishad, Er. Debashis Pattnaik, graced the event as the chief guest. He personally presented the trophy and awards to the winners. In his address, Pattnaik commended all the participants for their courage and talent and expressed his heartfelt wishes for their bright futures in music.
The difficult task of selecting the best from a pool of exceptional talent fell to a panel of esteemed judges. The jury for the final round included veteran vocalist Sur Gandharva Nabakishore Mishra, senior music director Ashok Kumar Ganthia, and Lalit Kumar Kar, a professor from the Bhubaneswar College of Music. After careful deliberation, they selected three top performers from the eleven finalists who competed in the evening.
Pritipadma Mishra won the title of "Voice of Nayagarh" for the sixth season. Saudamini Sahu secured the second position, and Chinmay Prasad Behera claimed the third spot, receiving applause and accolades for their performances.
The journey to the finale began earlier in the day with a semi-final round. This preliminary event took place at the Local Senior Citizens Group Centre hall at 9:00 AM. Smt. Nirupama Khatei, Chairperson of the Nayagarh Municipality, inaugurated the semi-finals by lighting the ceremonial lamp.

A different panel of judges oversaw this initial phase. Professor Lalit Kumar Kar, senior music teacher Rajesh Kumar Mishra, and music director Srinibas Samantaray assessed twenty-one contestants. Their expert ears selected the eleven most promising singers who advanced to the final showdown later that day.
The event saw strong support from the executive members of the Nayagarh Club. President Ashok Kumar Nayak, Secretary Sridhar Sahu, and program Chairman Mihir Ranjan Nayak were present throughout, encouraging the participants. The organizing team, led by director Sarat Chandra Acharya and coordinator Dhirendra Kumar Pattnaik, ensured the event ran seamlessly.
Other key members who contributed to the event's success included Arun Kumar Mahanti, Santosh Kumar Nayak, Prakash Chandra Sadangi, Laxminarayan Rath, Madanmohan Mahapatra, Abinas Sahu, Prasanna Kumar Basantia, Prashant Kumar Pattnaik, Basudev Sahu, and Prabir Prusti.
Contestants delivered captivating performances, singing a diverse range of songs from popular Odia cinema music to traditional Odissi, demonstrating the rich musical heritage of the region. The program captivated a large audience of local music enthusiasts who gathered to support the new generation of artists.
The event concluded on a note of gratitude, with Secretary Sridhar Sahu formally proposing the vote of thanks, marking the successful culmination of another season dedicated to discovering the resonant voices of Nayagarh.
