Kolkata (7/11): (Report - Sanatan Mahakud): Pragyan Foundation organized a grand patriotic and cultural program to commemorate 150 years of ‘Vande Mataram,' on Friday, 7th November, 2025. Vande Mataram was composed by Bankim Chandra Chattopadhyay in Sanskrit and Bengali in 1875.

The song became a rallying cry for freedom and a symbol of India’s national pride, ultimately recognized as the National Song of India.  

The event was held to honor the timeless spirit of patriotism and the profound legacy of the song that inspired generations during India’s freedom struggle. Dr. Suresh Kumar Agarwal, Director of International Institute of Lifestyle Medicine,delivered an inspiring and thought-provoking speech highlighting the relevance of Vande Mataram in uniting the nation and awakening the spirit of selfless service. 
Notable attendees included Prof. Prasad Ranjan Das, grandson of Bengali freedom fighter Deshbandhu Chittaranjan Das; Rama Roy, grand daughter of freedom fighter Debendranath Ghosh; Dr. Puravi Sen, daughter of freedom fighter Prafulla Kumar Sen; Mitali Sarkar, daughter of freedom fighter Debkumar Ghosh; along with Madhumay Nath, Mahesh Barman, Pawan Saraf, Dr. P. K. Pramanik, Geeta Sinha, Sarita Jaiswal, Subir Roychowdhury, Madhusudan Kar, Vishal Sureka, and several others. 
Participants paid homage to the nation and expressed gratitude to the freedom fighters who sacrificed their lives for independence. The celebration concluded with a collective rendition of Vande Mataram, echoing the spirit of devotion to the motherland and reaffirming India’s unity in diversity.
