Daspalla, Nayagarh: (Report: Subash Chandra Barik): In a significant move to combat the rising tide of cybercrime, the Nayagarh Police successfully conducted a comprehensive cybersecurity awareness campaign at Banigochha High School on Tuesday. The event, driven by the directives of the Superintendent of Police, aimed to arm citizens with the knowledge to navigate the digital world safely.

The program, titled "Cyber Security Abhiyan," addressed a critical need in the community. With digital fraud becoming a widespread issue affecting thousands across the state, the initiative served as a crucial line of defense, educating the public on how to identify and avoid common online scams.
The event commenced with a massive rally organized by the Banigochha Police Station. The rally saw overwhelming participation from a cross-section of society, demonstrating a collective commitment to cybersecurity. Local residents, senior citizens, students from high schools and colleges, members of driver associations, the Deepadan Pujak Committee, and dedicated Anganwadi and Asha workers all marched together to show their support for a safer digital environment.

The core message of the campaign revolved around the simple yet powerful mantra: "Stop, Check, and Stay Safe." Officials and speakers urged attendees to pause and verify before taking any action online, especially when dealing with unsolicited messages or financial requests.
The formal ceremony was graced by several key figures. Sukant Kumar Patra, the Nodal Officer for Nayagarh Police, attended as the chief guest. Other distinguished guests included Binayaranjan Parida, the Officer-in-Charge of Daspalla Police Station; Santosh Kumar Nayak, the Headmaster of Banigochha High School; Sasmita Mahakhud, the local Sarpanch; Nilamani Digal, the Vice-President of Banigochha College; and Ashok Kumar Nayak, the Headmaster of Kulurukumpa School.
The entire program was orchestrated under the leadership of Dilip Kumar Dhala, the Officer-in-Charge of Banigochha Police Station, who was also present on the dais.

During the awareness session, experts delved into the specifics of modern cyber threats. They provided clear guidance on how to recognize and handle fake messages, suspicious One-Time Passwords (OTPs), and various types of online deception. The speakers emphasized that even a small mistake in the digital realm can lead to significant financial and personal loss, making constant vigilance essential. They also highlighted the risks associated with social media, advising caution in sharing personal information and interacting with unknown profiles.
A highlight of the event was a vibrant cultural performance by local students. Using dance and song, the young performers creatively conveyed important cybersecurity messages, making the learning process engaging and memorable for the audience. This innovative approach ensured that the vital information resonated with people of all ages and educational backgrounds.
The event was expertly coordinated and compered by Birendra Kumar Dehuri, the In-charge Officer of the police station. His efforts ensured the program flowed smoothly and its critical messages were effectively delivered to every attendee.
