Nayagarh – (Report- Ramakrushna Rath):   In a significant initiative to address the critical need for blood in the region, a large-scale blood donation camp was successfully organised at the Model Degree College in Lathipada. The event, held under the joint auspices of the Youth Red Cross and the National Service Scheme (NSS), witnessed an outpouring of support from students and volunteers, leading to the collection of a remarkable 85 units of blood.

The camp was formally inaugurated by Mrs. Rozina Das, the Additional District Collector of Nayagarh, who commended the collaborative effort. She was joined at the opening ceremony by the Principal of the college, Dr. Manas Ranjan Satapathy. Both dignitaries highlighted the vital role such initiatives play in strengthening community health services and saving lives. 



The smooth operation of the camp was managed by Youth Red Cross officer Vijayini Subhadarshini and Dr. Sunil Chandra Pradhan. They coordinated the entire process, ensuring a seamless and efficient experience for all participants. Prior to donation, a crucial health screening was conducted for all student donors by Dr. Chinmaya Sahu from the Lathipada Primary Health Centre. This preliminary check-up ensured the safety of both the donors and the blood supply.
The event was marked by an enthusiastic and spirited response from the college community. A long queue of eager students and volunteers demonstrated a strong sense of social responsibility and a desire to contribute to a noble cause. Their collective effort resulted in the successful collection of 85 units of blood, a significant contribution that will greatly aid local healthcare facilities. 



Officials from the Nayagarh Blood Bank played a key role in the camp's success. They provided essential technical support and oversight for the blood collection process, ensuring all medical protocols were strictly followed. Adding to the encouragement, the HDFC Bank sponsored gifts for every student who donated blood. This gesture served as a token of appreciation for the donors' selfless act and helped foster a culture of voluntary blood donation.

The event saw the presence and active involvement of several faculty members and staff who motivated the participants throughout the day. Notable figures who lent their support included Gouramohan Sahu, Dr. Jyotsnarani Kar, Dr. Aparajita Mishra, Dr. Aninya Kumar Samantara, Dr. Santosh Kumar Behera, Mrs. Rinabala Ghadai, Ritisree Mallick, Dr. Prakash Kumar Sahu, Madhusmita Mahapatra, Dr. Girish Chandra Nayak, and Vijay Kumar Sahu.
Principal Dr. Satapathy expressed his profound satisfaction with the outcome. He stated that the overwhelming participation reflects the institution's commitment to nurturing not only academic excellence but also a deep-rooted sense of civic duty among its students. The college authorities affirmed their intention to make such blood donation drives a regular feature, contributing consistently to the welfare of the wider community.
