NAYAGARH, November 26, 2025 (Report: Ramakrushna Rath) — The District Collector, Mr. Akshaya Sunil Agrawal, chaired a crucial joint review meeting today. The meeting focused on the performance of the Health and Women and Child Development Departments. The Collector emphasized the need for improving maternal and child health indicators across the district.
Collector Agrawal strongly instructed all attending health officials to ensure that all government programs reach the public effectively. He stressed that the district must secure a top rank at the state level for its health performance. The Collector directed the health department to enhance the implementation of key initiatives.
Another serious concern raised was the declining sex ratio, which indicates a worrying drop in the number of female children. Collector Agrawal called this a "disturbing issue." To address this, he issued two strong directives:
Conduct raids and surveillance on various ultrasound clinics to prevent illegal pre-natal sex determination.
Launch widespread awareness campaigns to educate the public on the importance of the girl child.
Mr. Ashish Kumar Mohanty, the District Child and Reproductive Health Officer, expertly managed and coordinated the entire review meeting proceedings. The Collector's strong directives mark a significant push towards better public health outcomes in the district.
