Daspalla's Jamusahi High School Faces Backlash Over Hostel Neglect

Daspalla: (Report- Subash Chandra Barik): Jamusahi High School, a local institution built through the tireless efforts of the community, is now grappling with severe mismanagement. Due to the alleged negligence of the headmistress, the future of many bright students now hangs in the balance.

The hostel, established through public donations and hard work, is in deplorable condition. According to the District Social Welfare Officer, the hostel lacks basic amenities. Last year, the district administration had directed the headmistress and the management committee to ensure proper facilities for students. However, due to the headmistress's alleged delaying tactics, no improvements have been made so far.
As a result, instead of admitting new students for the 2025-26 academic year, authorities attempted to forcibly issue school-leaving certificates to current students. Upon learning of this, the management committee and local residents strongly opposed the move. Tensions escalated this morning, leading to an unpleasant situation outside the school.
After some media personnel arrived to cover the incident, the headmistress sent students home, instructing them to inform their parents. However, villagers protested, questioning why students were being removed from the hostel. Police from Banigochha arrived at the scene to mediate, but no departmental officers were present, sources confirmed.
The situation remains unresolved, leaving students and parents in distress over the school's deteriorating conditions.
