The Heritage School in Kolkata hosted the 68th National School Games 2024 Chess Competition under the aegis of SGFI

Kolkata: (Reported by Sanatan Mahakud): The Heritage School hosted the 68th National School Games 2024 Chess Competition under the aegis of School Games Federation of India (SGFI) on 19th November, which will continue till 21st November at the school campus.

The inaugural ceremony was graced by Shri Binod Kumar, IAS, Principal Secretary, Department of Education, Government of West Bengal, as the Chief Guest. More than 150 students from various schools across the country participated. 
Speaking on this, Mr. Arijit Basu, Deputy Secretary-Finance, CISCE, said that this is an excellent platform where chess lovers can prove themselves. 
Shri Binod Kumar, IAS, stressed the features of the National Education Policy and how it is beneficial for the school students. Moreover, he also spoke about the essence of sports education for the holistic development of the students. The event witnessed the presence of Mr. Arnab Shaw, Sports Manager, CISCE. 
The inaugural ceremony was also addressed by Ms. Seema Sapru, Principal, The Heritage School; Mr. P. K. Agarwal, CEO, KBT; Mr. Ranjan Mitter, Principal, The Future Foundation School and Principal Coordinator, CISCE Sports & Games (WB & NE Region); Mr. Shailesh Pandey, Joint Sports Coordinator, CISCE Sports and Games, West Bengal and Northeast; and various other dignitaries present. 
The closing ceremony on 21st November will be graced by Indian chess grandmaster, Shri Dibyendu Barua.
