Bhubaneswar: In a landmark event that marks the 100-day completion of his government, Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi launched 158 projects worth over Rs 987 crore at a district-level function in Keonjhar on Sunday. This strategic move reflects the government's commitment to fast-track development and address long-standing issues in the region.
The Chief Minister inaugurated 55 projects and laid the foundation stones for 98 others, signaling a robust effort to transform Keonjhar into a developed hub. The projects encompass sectors like transport, health, infrastructure, and railways, aiming to revitalize the district and provide long-term benefits for its residents.
Visionary Leadership: A Commitment to People’s Welfare
During the event, CM Majhi emphasized that his administration is focused not only on bringing smiles to people's faces but also on filling their hearts with hope and satisfaction.
"Our government is a people’s government, built on the foundation of their trust and support. We have always maintained that our Sankalp Patra is not just a political promise but our scripture for governance," said Majhi.
In a pointed reference to the downfall of the previous BJD government, Majhi remarked, “The 24-year-long rule came to an end because it deviated from serving the people. The 2024 elections have shown that the public will not support a government that turns a blind eye to their needs.”

Majhi's administration has placed a strong emphasis on people-centric governance. The state's first grievance cell camp, launched in Keonjhar just a day before this event, is an extension of this commitment.
"We are directly engaging with people to address their grievances. The establishment of grievance cells will help ensure that justice is served to every citizen,” Majhi added.
Transforming Keonjhar: A Multi-Sector Development Approach
Focusing on Keonjhar’s specific needs, CM Majhi addressed the pressing issue of poverty in the district.
"Keonjhar has long struggled with poverty and malnutrition. Our government is launching visionary programs aimed at eradicating these problems once and for all," he said.
The projects span key sectors, including health, transportation, and infrastructure, which are seen as vital to lifting the district out of poverty.
Among the key initiatives is the opening of a trauma care center at Dharinidhar Medical College, scheduled for this year. This is a significant step towards enhancing healthcare services in the district. Majhi also announced that various other development projects, collectively valued at more than Rs 900 crore, are now underway.
Keonjhar’s Bright Future: Major Infrastructure and Transportation Projects
One of the most significant announcements made by the Chief Minister was the prioritization of the long-delayed Kanupur irrigation project.
"This project, which has been pending for 40 years, will finally be operational by next June. This will meet the longstanding aspirations of local residents and farmers,” Majhi said.
Additionally, the Ladbil-Paradip eight-lane road project is set to revolutionize transportation in the region. The Chief Minister also mentioned the formation of the Uttar Odisha Development Council, which will focus on expediting growth in northern Odisha districts, including Keonjhar.
The iconic Maa Tarini Temple, a major cultural and religious site, will undergo significant beautification efforts. Majhi announced an immediate allocation of Rs 50 crore for the temple’s development, with a long-term plan to invest Rs 2,000 crore for its complete renovation.
Vande Bharat Express to Stop at Keonjhar
In a major boost for Keonjhar’s connectivity, CM Majhi confirmed that the Vande Bharat Express will soon stop at the district, providing a direct link to New Delhi. This is expected to open new avenues for trade, tourism, and economic growth, as well as improve travel convenience for residents.
"The Central government is listening to our needs and delivering accordingly. We are committed to using Keonjhar’s natural and human resources to build a prosperous future,” Majhi stated, reflecting his government's proactive engagement with the Union government.
Uplifting Odisha’s Cultural and Linguistic Identity
Majhi also took the opportunity to highlight the importance of preserving and promoting Odisha’s cultural heritage. He recalled the historic decision taken within hours of his government’s swearing-in to open all four gates of the Puri Jagannath Temple, which had been closed for decades.
"Our prime concern was to respect and uphold the sentiments of 4.5 crore Odias. Within two months, we also managed to open the Ratna Bhandar, which had been closed for 52 years," he said.
Another key initiative has been the push to re-establish Odia Asmita (Odisha’s identity) by promoting the use of the Odia language at the official level. A corpus of Rs 2,000 crore has been set aside in the state budget to further this cause. Additionally, Rs 500 crore has been allocated for the Jagannath Temple's improvement, reflecting the government’s focus on safeguarding Odisha’s cultural and religious heritage.
Conclusion: A Call for Unity and Cooperation
As the event drew to a close, CM Majhi reiterated the importance of collective action in the pursuit of progress.
“The development of Keonjhar and the state depends on the cooperation of every citizen. Together, we will accelerate this growth process and build a better future,” he said, calling for the determination and cooperation of all the people of Keonjhar.
With a clear focus on tackling poverty, boosting infrastructure, and preserving the state’s cultural identity, CM Majhi's initiatives signal a new era for Keonjhar and the rest of Odisha. His government’s ambitious projects, coupled with a strong people-first approach, are set to bring lasting changes to the region.
As Odisha moves forward under Majhi's leadership, the state is poised to witness rapid transformation across various sectors, heralding a bright future for its people.
