Durga Puja Immersion: Cuttack Police Issues Traffic Guidelines with Penalties for Violation

In preparation for the Durga Puja immersion in the Millennium City, the Cuttack Urban Police District (UPD) has released a set of traffic guidelines aimed at ensuring convenience and public safety. These traffic restrictions will be in effect from 7 AM on October 25th until the conclusion of the immersion on October 26th.

During this period, the following traffic regulations will be enforced:

  1. No vehicles will be permitted to travel directly towards Ranihat Clock Tower from CDA Market Complex, Post Office Chhak, and Bombay Hotel Chhak at College Square. They can instead use Mahanadi Ring Road from CDA Market Complex to Jobra Chhak via Bombay Hotel and exit Cuttack.
  2. There will be no access for vehicles from Malgodown State Bank side to College Chhak through Pilgrim Road. They should take the route via OMP/CDA Market Chhak, College Square through Malgodown, and Malgodown Flyover Bridge.
  3. Vehicles will not be allowed to proceed from Mochi Sahi Chhak to Clock Tower Chhak directly via Ranihat High School. The alternative route is to make a left turn at Mochi Sahi Chhak towards Clock Tower Chhak or Jobra Chhak via Dr. Tejeswar Rao Chhak.
  4. When tableaux approach Ranihat Chhak, vehicles will not be allowed from Bajrakabati Bridge to Ranihat Chhak. They can divert to Buxibazar or Mangalabag through Kesharpur Bridge.
  5. At the time of tableaux passing Mangalabag Chhak, vehicles will not be allowed to proceed from Kathagola Chhak to Mangalabag Chhak.
  6. No vehicles can head towards Howrah Motor Chhak from Matamath Chhak and Vigilance Gada.
  7. There will be a restriction on vehicles going towards Mani Sahoo Chhak and Mastan Dargha Chhak (Tanishq) from Girnar Hotel Chhak.
  8. Vehicles will not be allowed to move towards Buxibazar Chhak from Bepari Sahi Durga Ghar Chhak and Samaj Office Chhak.
  9. There will be no access for vehicles towards Pravat Cinema from Meria Bazar Bridge.
  10.  Vehicles cannot proceed towards Laxmi Brass Band or Kar Palace.
  11. The route from Hatipokhari Chhak to Jail Road Chhak is restricted.
  12. No vehicles will be allowed from Ravenshaw Girls High School to Padhiari Library and Gouri Shankar Park. Similarly, vehicles are not permitted to move towards Gouri Shankar Park and Utkalika Chhak from Dharmashala Chhak.
  13. There will be no access for vehicles going from High Court Chhak to Choudhury Bazaar via Balubazar Chhak.
  14. Vehicles cannot proceed towards Purna Sahoo Chhak from Municipality Old Gate.
  15. No vehicles will be allowed to move towards Purna Sahoo Chhak from Nandi Sahi.
  16. There will be a restriction on vehicles heading to Kathajodi Ring Road from Tala Telenga Bazar Hanuman Temple via Nursigha Nath Matha.
  17. No vehicles will be allowed to proceed towards Purna Sahoo Chhak from Nandi Sahi via Apananka Hotel Chhak.
  18. Vehicles cannot move towards Purighat Gada on Kathajodi Ring Road from Khannagar Chhak and Blue Lagoon Hotel Chhak.

It's important to note that police, fire brigade, excise, ambulance, and other emergency service vehicles are exempt from these regulations. Violation of these traffic guidelines is considered an offense under Section 96 of the Odisha Urban Police Act-2003 and can result in fines ranging from Rs 500 to Rs 1000 per offense.
