Rourkela: President Droupadi Murmu visited Rourkela to attend the Aadi Parv 2026 event. The residents of the city gave her a very warm and grand welcome. During her visit, she inaugurated several new projects and spoke about the overall development of the nation.

At a large cultural program, around 2,500 students performed a beautiful mass dance. Governor Dr. Haribabu Kambhampati, Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi, and Union Tribal Affairs Minister Jual Oram attended the event. After the performance, President Murmu met the children. She greeted them, took photographs, and spent quality time with the young students.

The President inaugurated a new Science Center and a Planetarium. She also opened a modern Tribal Museum located at the Rourkela 'ONE' campus. This three-story museum displays the rich tribal culture, traditions, and lifestyle of Odisha. Visitors can see realistic displays of tribal housing, clothing, food, and daily life. The museum also honors the important contributions of tribal communities to India's freedom struggle.

In her speech, President Murmu stated that the dream of a "Viksit Bharat" (Developed India) will come true only through the complete development of all people. She called Sundargarh a land of both culture and struggle. She remembered the famous revolutionary leader Nirmal Munda. She also praised Sundargarh as the cradle of hockey, noting that the region produces many great athletes for the country. She highlighted central government schemes for tribal welfare, such as the PM Van Dhan Yojana and programs for tribal women's empowerment. Finally, she advised students to work hard for their own growth and to help build a strong nation.

Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi also addressed the gathering. He said the President's visit brings great pride and glory to the state. He announced that the new Integrated Command and Control Center will bring world-class smart administration to Rourkela. He noted that the Science Park and Planetarium will guide students in science and technology. He also shared plans to quickly expand the Rourkela Airport and the Rourkela Steel Plant. The government is focusing heavily on farmers, women's empowerment, youth employment, and new industrial projects. He stated confidently that Odisha will become the growth engine of a developed India in the coming days.

Later, President Murmu visited a special exhibition at the Sector-13 ground. Women from local Self-Help Groups (SHGs) set up stalls to display their beautiful handmade crafts. The President talked with the women and asked them about their products. She highly praised their skills, hard work, and creativity. Governor Kambhampati and Chief Minister Majhi also walked through the exhibition to see the local crafts.
